What does a generic domain name on system.io look like?

When you start on system.io, the platform automatically assigns you a generic domain name.

This is so that you can test and view your generated pages...

Because if the platform doesn't give you this domain name automatically, you won't be able to see your pages and the changes you make, so that wouldn't be great...

You need to understand that the generic domain name isthe address of your "test site," which is why you wouldn't be able to see your pages if system.io didn't give you this generic domain name.

All system io users are automatically assigned a domain name when they create their account. This is a "technical requirement" of sorts and is necessary for the user experience, as you understand.

Generic domain names look something like this:

Here is one of my generic domain names on system.io that I use for testing. You can take a look; it's a mundane page with no interest except for testing purposes^^'.

So when you create your account on System.io, you will be assigned this type of domain name, which will remain yours for as long as you have your account. You cannot delete or change it.

What is a custom domain name on System.io?

A custom domain name is the address of your personal website.

For example, for my website here, my custom domain name is:

astucessystemeio.com

As you can see in the URL bar at the top of your web browser. The annoying thing about custom domain names is that you have to rent them, which costs around €20 per year depending on where you rent them.

And no, you can't buy it outright and keep it forever—that would be too good to be true...

So you have to rent it for life if you want to keep it for life, and you'll have to pay the $20 for the rest of your life. Unless, of course, you no longer want to rent it, but in that case, you'll lose all the pages associated with that domain.

And in general, since we put a lot of time and energy into creating the pages, we don't want to stop renting the domain name... It's a kind of moral oppression, this thing...

Either you keep the domain for life and pay for it for life.
Or you give up your domain name, and you will have wasted time creating web pages and so on.

Switch the domain name of a System.io blog to a custom domain name
