How can I easily integrate GDPR cookie management into System.io?
You've heard of cookies. And you now know that you are required to offer your visitors the option to manage which cookies they want or don't want. But you have no idea how to obtain your visitors' consent and comply with the GDPR.
In this article, you will learn how to manage cookies, consent, and GDPR.
"Managing cookies, consent, and GDPR is easy with system.io!"
Presentation by founder Aurélien Amacker
You probably want to manage cookies effectively on system.io and are wondering how to do so. It is important to integrate them properly in order to improve the quality of your service. These tips will be useful to you, as it is now mandatory to obtain consent from your website users.
A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are used to store information such as your user preferences, session data, and login credentials.
Cookies may be issued by the website you are visiting (internal cookies) or by third-party websites (external cookies).
Internal cookies are generally used to improve the user experience. In other words, to improve the site in line with visitors' expectations.
External cookies are usually used to provide targeted advertising or to track users' browsing habits.
Generally speaking, there are more external cookies than internal cookies on a website. This makes sense, since not all "small websites" are able or know how to create cookies.
So, they use external cookies to collect data about their visitors!
Like me, for example...
Do you think I know how to create a cookie? Well, no...
So I use Google Search Console or Google Analytics.
As for "big sites" like Amazon, they have developers and engineers to create these cookies. This is because it is in the interest of large companies to collect data on visitors to their sites so that they can then target them more effectively with tailored advertising, for example.
As a result, when you browse one website or another, it is mainly external cookies that are used to collect data about your browsing. This data is then sent to third-party companies such as Google Analytics or Facebook.

Why integrate cookies on system.io?
Cookies are used by many websites to provide a personalized experience for users. Facebook, for example, uses cookies to better understand how people use its site and to improve their experience.
Cookies also enable conversion tracking and A/B testing so that websites can continue to improve for their users. On Facebook, the Facebook pixel is an external cookie that tracks conversions, i.e., purchases made on the website after clicking on an advertisement.
You can follow many other events on Facebook with the pixel...
Cookies and personalized advertising
Cookies are also used by many companies to send targeted advertisements to specific groups of users. For example, if you have visited a website selling shoes, you will often see advertisements for shoes when you browse other websites.
This is because companies use the data collected by cookies to target advertisements. And that's pretty good in a way, because at least you get ads that may interest you rather than random ads.

What is the GDPR?
Obtaining consent is mandatory (GDPR law).
In order to collect and use user data, it is now mandatory to obtain their consent. This means that you must have a clear and visible message on your website explaining to users what you do with their data and why you do it.
You must also offer users the option to opt out of tracking or disable cookies at any time.
Fines if you don't comply
No matter how big your website is, you have to do this. If you don't, you risk a fine of €20 million or 4% of your turnover!
That kind of fine hurts, doesn't it?
Obviously, large websites such as Facebook or Google are not concerned by these fines, as they have the means to pay them.
But if you don't comply with the law, you risk getting caught and punished!
Well, you might think you won't get that kind of fine... But you'll definitely get a hefty fine...
Common sense
Ultimately, it's just common sense.
If you collect data about your users, you must tell them what you do with that data.
And if you don't want to bother with cookies and personal data, just don't collect any data... But of course, it's difficult to work on the web without any data...
The problem with not collecting data is that you will never know how to improve your website and how to meet the needs of your users. This is a real concern because what cannot be measured cannot be improved.
So, I suggest you integrate cookies into system.io to better understand your users, offer a better experience, and of course, don't forget to do what's necessary to comply with the law.
That's the best advice I can give you.^^

There are several types of cookies:
- technical cookies
- functional cookies
- analytical cookies
Technical cookies are essential for the proper functioning of your website and cannot be disabled.
These cookies enable users to navigate the website and use its features, such as accessing secure areas. Technical cookies do not collect any personal information about users.
Functional cookies improve the user experience by remembering their choices and preferences.
Functional cookies are optional, but can be useful for improving the user experience. These cookies allow users to remember their choices and preferences, such as the selected language or font size. Functional cookies do not collect personal information.
Analytical cookies are used to track and analyze user behavior on a website.
Analytical cookies collect anonymous data that allows us to see how visitors use the site so that we can analyze their behavior and ultimately improve and better tailor the site to visitors.
GDPR compliance with your website and cookies on system.io
First and foremost, you should consult a lawyer who specializes in GDPR, such as Haas Avocat , for example. Now, to put it simply, to comply with the GDPR, you must do the following:
1- Have a clear and visible message on your website that explains to users what you do with their data and why you do it.
2- You must offer users the option to refuse tracking or disable cookies.
No need to do more than that, because it's common sense. If you collect data about your users, you have to tell them what you're doing with that data.
It's simple, clear, and logical.
GDPR compliance with your website and sending emails on system.io
Same as above. Just a quick tip: consider using double opt-in, it's still the simplest option...
Double opt-in is when you automatically send a first email asking the person to click on a confirmation link to confirm that they want to receive your emails.

How to integrate a cookie management banner on system.io sales funnels?
You will likely be able to easily set cookies with systeme.io in the future. System.io is currently working on cookie management according to support, but for now, you must use external software.
Currently, you cannot manage cookies directly on system.io. You need another external software, such as axeptio or Cookiebot, which will allow you to collect and store your visitors' consent and manage cookies.
There is no doubt that in the future, systeme.io will integrate this feature natively, allowing your visitors to better manage cookies directly on your website. Alternatively, systeme.io will find another solution, such as a partnership.
You have to be patient, the sio team can't do everything at once...
You can enter the Axeptio code in "sales funnel settings."

How do I add a cookie management banner to a system.io blog?
If you are using the blog template, go to "Blog Layout," then "Settings" in the top left corner, and "Edit Header Code" at the bottom. Paste the code and it should work.
How can we manage cookies while we wait for system.io to offer us a solution?
In the meantime, you can use axeptio. This is a subscription-based service that allows you to collect, store, and manage consent and cookies on your website. All you need to do is create an account and install the code on your website.
Once you have installed the code, you can manage it directly from your axeptio account. You can decide which cookies to enable and disable, as well as their privacy level. You can choose the design that will appear on your site and many other things.
Once you have configured everything in your axeptio account, users will be asked to accept or decline cookies on your website when they visit it.
How to manage cookies on system.io for free?
If you don't want to pay for a service like axeptio, there are other software programs that allow you to collect consent, such as tarteau-citron. I believe there is a free version, but I'll leave you to check that out.
On the other hand, I think it's more "troublesome" for beginners to install, because you have to add code.
